Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil Requiem: The Complete Story So Far

Resident Evil has always been about survival horror at its core and Requiem the ninth main entry in the franchise brings back that tension in a way fans have been asking for since Resident Evil 7 released on February 13 2026 the game splits its story between two playable characters FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and longtime series veteran Leon S Kennedy Grace is pulled into the investigation after a mysterious death at the Wrenwood hotel one of several fatalities across the United States connected to survivors of the original Raccoon City outbreak as she digs deeper she gets kidnapped by an obsessed scientist named Victor Gideon and slowly begins to realize the horrifying truth about herself and the events unfolding around her Leon meanwhile brings his signature combat heavy style back into the mix giving the game two very different tones stitched into one story

Leon Returns To The Nightmare

This image captures exactly what longtime fans wanted to see again Leon walking straight into chaos weapon in hand rain pouring down streets littered with bodies his sections of the game lean hard into fast paced combat similar to Resident Evil 4 rather than pure survival horror while Grace deals with tension and vulnerability Leon is the one pushing back against the horror directly this contrast between the two characters is a big part of why Requiem is being praised it finally blends both sides of what Resident Evil has always tried to be

The Creature Waiting Behind The Door

This is the kind of imagery Resident Evil built its reputation on a grotesque decayed humanoid creature emerging from the dark practically dripping with dread Requiem leans heavily into these close quarters horror encounters where visibility is limited and every creak or shadow could mean something is about to lunge at you these creatures echo the classic zombie and mutated enemy designs the series is known for but with noticeably more detailed grotesque texture work thanks to the game's updated engine it's a reminder that despite the bigger story and dual protagonist structure Capcom didn't forget what actually made the earlier games terrifying in the first place

Zeno The Man Who Isn't Wesker But Might As Well Be

Now here's where things get interesting this character is named Zeno and he's the game's secondary antagonist a high ranking member of a shadowy organization called The Connections working alongside Victor Gideon to uncover a bioweapon called Elpis what makes Zeno stand out immediately is how eerily similar he looks and moves compared to Albert Wesker slicked back hair sunglasses the same calm calculated menace even his voice actor is the same person who voiced Wesker in the Resident Evil 4 remake the game never fully confirms whether Zeno is a clone a product of old experiments or something else entirely and even in universe characters refer to him as nothing but an imitation As for what happens to him yes Zeno does die by the end of the story his fate is far less dramatic than Wesker's explosive demise back in Resident Evil 5 which has actually been a point of criticism among fans who feel he was set up as a major threat only to be written off quickly in one of the game's darker alternate endings Zeno even kills Leon outright if the player makes the wrong choice showing just how dangerous he's meant to be even if his screen time doesn't fully live up to that potential

Whether Zeno was meant to be a one time homage to the series' most iconic villain or a setup for something bigger down the line remains unclear but his presence adds one more layer to a game that's already being called one of the strongest entries Resident Evil has delivered in years!
